Elk
Hunting: Elk hunts in New Mexico are fabulous! This state has
some of the most numerous trophy bulls in the United States. Bulls scoring
in the high 300s and low 400s are not uncommon. With wide and massive
racks, tall saber tines, and healthy bodies, New Mexico Elk are a trophy
hunters dream come true. The majority of the state has good numbered heards.
Northern and west-central forest lands contain the largest bulls in the
state. Guides are seasoned hunters themselves and are intimately familiar
with the terrain and game habits of the area.
Mule
Deer & Whitetail Deer Hunting: Deer populations in this state
are declining, but the gene pool is improving. Northern and west central
New Mexico has the largest bucks, but the central and southern mountains
harbor the largest numbers. Most of the designated Wilderness Areas contain
larger bucks, but the hunting is definitely more difficult and strenuous.
The majority of the state contains the Mule Deer, yet small populations
of Whitetail and Coues Deer can be found predominantly in the southern
and southwestern mountains of this state.
Antelope
Hunting: Antelope heard numbers have been declining in the last
decade. This is not to say that trophy bucks can still be found. The whole
eastern half of the state has the largest numbers and the majority of
high quality areas are on private land. Bucks ranging is size from the
mid teens to low 20s are not uncommon. Most are harvested during the rifle
hunts, but bow hunters are offered the most challenging and rewarding
hunts.
Exotic
Hunting: Hunts to please all. New Mexico also has exotics (free
ranging). Whether after the Oryx on New Mexico's deserts or after the
sure footed Ibex on the shear faces only traveled by the Ibex, hunters
are sure to have a hunt never to be forgotten. Ibex are only found in
the south central mountains of the state. There are over-the-counter,
year-round, and once-in-a-lifetime seasons available to choose from. Oryx
are only found in the central and south central mountains and desert lands
of the state
.
Javelina
Hunting: Javelina may be hunted only during the first quarter
of the year and are draw permits only. The majority of the game lie in
the west-central, central and southwestern portions of the state.
Guides are seasoned hunters themselves and are intimately familiar with
the terrain and game habits of the area.
