Galena River Outfitters is a local family owned fulltime Whitetail Deer and Turkey outfitting service, the first in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. Our very own agricultural ground is located in the county, both in Galena and Woodbine, Illinois.

GRO currently has over 1,200 quality Illinois acres to offer to a select few, although we will be adding additional ground slowly, but surely year after year as we grow.

We will individualize each and every hunt to meet your specific needs.



Fall Deer Hunts: We own and lease multiple properties in Jo Daviess County - the Top Deer producing county in Northwestern Illinois. We are also proud to boast about Trophy Quality, as well. We do request, if given the 'opportunity', one harvests only mature bucks of at least 130" with bow and 140" with muzzleloader. We will be taking only 10 bow hunters for the year, 2 muzzleloader hunters for the year and 2 late antlerless gun hunters, to help manage some of our does. You will be hunting on one of our premier farms for 5 days with bow. Muzzleloader hunts will be either the 4-day (2nd gun season), or the 3-day muzzleloader hunt. This 2010 season, we will be offering the late antlerless season.



Spring Turkey Hunts- Gun or Bow: Hunting the top Illinois Turkey county of Jo Daviess for 3-day hunts. We will be accepting only 10 Spring Turkey Hunters. Our first hunt is the Illinois Youth Hunt. Non-hunters welcome for minimal fee.

Other Activities: Turkey hunts end at 1:00pm, and your afternoons and evenings are yours to enjoy visiting the historic region. Weather permitting, bring your golf clubs and tee times will be arranged at Eagle Ridge Resort on one of their four professional courses, or at any of the other fine golf courses in the area.



Hunting Properties: Our hunting properties are located in the northwest corner of Illinois. Although sparsely populated, Jo Daviess County, the town of Galena and the surrounding countryside, is the third most visited area in our state, second only to Chicago and Springfield. The area is well known internationally as a natural national treasure.

Our properties are managed year round not just seasonally. We are working for you all year to offer the best opportunity possible to harvest a mature quality animal. As one of our area's town signs reveal, this is also a Midwestern Sportsmen's Paradise.




Meals and Lodging: All hunts include meals, lodging, guide scouting and service, transportation to and from the field, and field dressing. A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking, with the balance due 30 days prior to your hunt. Each hunter will receive airline and travel directions, what to bring, hunt contract and other necessary information needed to make your hunt a worthy experience.
