.com Hunting in Alaska for Dall Sheep, Moose,
Grizzly Bear, Brown Bear |
Bill Burwell, Master Guide and Pilot Since 1985, has been guiding highly successful
hunts for Dall Sheep, Moose, Grizzly Bear, and Brown Bear in South Central and
Southwest Alaska. With over 45 years of hunting knowledge, Bill knows all the
elements needed for a quality, fair chase hunt. Bill has personally guided more
than 200 Alaskan big game trophies, including a record 81-inch bull moose, several
record-book 10-feet brown bear, and many outstanding rams.
Sheep,
Moose and Grizzly Hunts take place in Game Management Units 12 and 20 southwest
of Tok in eastern Alaska and south of Fairbanks in the Alaska Range. Access into
the hunt area is by Piper Supercub bush plane. Base camp consists of outfitter
type wall tents with cots and stoves. Hunters reach outlying spike camps by horseback
or Polaris ranger ATVs. Moose and bear hunters will use them during their hunts.
Sheep hunters will usually have an ATV in camp, but will walk above 4,000 feet.
Sheep hunters with Tok Management Permits hunt afoot after the Supercub flight
into the area we have scouted for rams.
Brown
Bear Hunts are conducted on the Alaska Peninsula in Game Management Unit 9,
south of Pilot Point. Hunters are picked up here for a Supercub flight to bear
camp.
Success on sheep and moose for capable hunters has always been high.
Exceptional rams from 36- to 42-inch have been taken every year. Many moose have
scored high enough to make Boone & Crockett all time records. Big male grizzlies
range in size from 8 to 9 feet and are beautifully colored. The big brownies will
still go 10 feet and more on the Alaska Peninsula. When you are ready to hunt
in a truly beautiful country, with one of the best guides still climbing the mountain,
this is the place.
Travel
to Alaska. All clients should fly to Anchorage. The point of outfitting for
Brown Bear hunters is Pilot Point, which is reached by scheduled airlines. We
pick you up and fly you to the hunting area. All bags must fit into a Piper Supercub
bush plane, so please pack smart and light. Sheep, Moose, and Grizzly Bear hunts
take place in Eastern and South Central Game Management Units 12 and 20, southwest
of Tok. The point of outfitting is Slana, which is reached by rental car or Alaska
Direct bus line. All bags must fit into a Supercub.
