Hunting in Alaska for Bear, Moose, Goat and Deer

We specialize in Coastal Alaskan Brown Bear hunt. These hunts are conducted in the prime areas of the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island. For the past two years we have averaged bears between 9 and 10 foot at both our Kodiak and Ugashik camps. Most of our skulls have been between 25 and 28 inches.

Gus Lamoureux has been conducting hunts on Kodiak Island and hunting and fishing trips on the Alaska Peninsula for over 30 years. He knows the habits of the different species including when and where to find them. He has many references from all over the world.

Gus is a lifelong Alaskan whose business is helping people fulfill their outdoor dreams.

Kodiak Island: has had an exemplary management system for nearly 30 years, with an island wide bear per square mile average of 1.25. Kodiak has two seasons every year and in our area we are allowed three permits in the spring and two in the fall. These hunts run for twelve hunting days with the spring hunt beginning near the end of April and the fall hunt beginning near the end of October.

Moose Hunts: conducted from camp on the Alaska Peninsula. Moose hunting has been very good. Our average is 64”. Our moose season is from September 10th - 20th and our hunt fully encompasses this season, offering 11 full days of hunting. A moose hunt can be hard work but we do our best to put you in a proven, prime harvest area. We hire experienced guides that are fully capable in the areas of trophy estimation and field care.
Included: all meals and lodging with your guide one on one. The hunting license and moose tag fee are extra.

Goat hunting: on Kodiak Island is like no other.. We’ve taken goat from 8 ½ to nearly 11 inches in horn size. Most of the goats are taken at altitudes between 1200 to 1800 feet. Normally we are up the mountain and back to base camp by evening. Unfortunately these are on a permit draw. Drawing chances are about 1:4. Once drawn we’ve been 100% successful on harvest. This seven day hunt is conducted in October when the goat’s hair is at it’s longest.

Sitka Blacktail Deer: We start these hunts on November 6th. These hunts are for a period of five days, including in & out days, and include all of the same amenities that our fully guided trips do. The only difference is that you are on your own in the field. Minimum group size of 4, no one hunts alone. Before hunt we will give you a briefing on the protocols of bear encounters and the laws regarding the salvage of your deer meat.

Accommodations: In both locations we use our cabins as base camp, but at the Ugashik Camp most of our Brown Bear and Moose hunts are conducted from spike camps that range across a prime hunting area encompassing nearly 600 square miles. Once you are successful you will return to base camp. Our Kodiak Island camp has two cabins and our Brown Bear, Mountain Goat and Sitka Blacktail deer hunts are based from here. We rarely use spike camps as the comfort level is so much higher without sacrificing average success
