Hunting in Louisiana for Duck, Whitetail Deer, Rabbit, Raccoon

Although Slackwater Farms is mainly a duck hunting facility, other animals include deer, raccoon, rabbit and many additional types of fowl. There are eight pit blinds, two above ground blinds and several willow ponds and natural low water areas to hunt. The farm consists of 1428 acres owned and 145 acres leased, for a total of 1573 acres. Composed of 670 acres agriculture, 580 acres young oak, cypress, green ash, and other native trees, 220 acres low water areas and 103 acres of bayous, irrigation canals, roads, levees, and food plots.

Come in and kick back. You'll find your time at Slackwater Farms renewing and refreshing. So have fun, enjoy the simple pleasures and mostly, make yourself at home.

Duck Hunting: Situated in the heart of the Mississippi flyway, large populations of many duck species pass through our farm.

Common Ducks:
Mallards, Gadwall, Pintail, Blue and Green wing Teal, Northern Shoveler, and Widgeon, White fronted, Blue and Snow geese, Dove, Snipe, Rail, and pin raised quail.

Duck Binds: There are eight pit blinds, two above ground blinds and several willow ponds and natural low water areas to hunt. All are well maintained and equipped with decoys, dog boxes and storage areas. Additional hunts of white tail deer, rabbit or raccoon may be either prearranged or added on site.

Schedule: Guest arrives at Slackwater in the afternoon, move in their respective lodge and get settled in. The bar is open and everyone gets acquainted with their guides and the hunting area. Dinner is served at 7PM and everyone settles in for the night. Hunters wake around 5AM for breakfast. Guides will divide the group according to blind capacity; discuss current hunting conditions and recent duck populations and movements. Hunting times are from 30 minutes before sunrise until noon. We normally do not hunt in the afternoons because ducks need to repopulate the farm. We return to the lodge for lunch, ducks are cleaned and packaged, and the afternoon is planned.

Accommodations: Slackwater Farms’ main lodge is a two story “A” frame made of Louisiana cypress. The lodge can sleep 6-8 hunters in modern comfort. Downstairs: Central heat/air, two bunk rooms w/ 1 full size and super twin bunk beds in each, down stairs bath and laundry room, kitchen, dinning and den. Upstairs: loft w/ king bed, private bath and setting area overlooking the downstairs. Set on the Bayou Lafourche levee with a large deck overlooking the farm.

Slackwater Farms provide lodging, meals, full service bar, 4-wheeler transportation to and from the hunting area, experienced guides, hunt ready blinds, bird cleaning and packaging. Our guest need only provide La hunting license, State and Federal duck stamps, waders, guns and ammo, and any personal items.

Non-hunting guests are welcome for an additional fee.
