Deer and Turkey Hunting in Western Kentucky | Welcome
to Western Kentucky Outdoors! Below you will find helpful information about WKO.
Our hunts are limited. WKO is not a hunter mill. We are serious about our hunting
and providing our clients with a quality hunt on relatively low-pressured game.
We keep our stand sites fresh. More than 90% of the time our hunters are hunting
a stand for the first time. That isn't to say you will not hunt that stand more
than once on your hunt, but thru scouting we make an effort to keep our stands
on top of the game. Since we primarily cater to bow hunters, this is very important.
As a muzzleloader or rifle hunter, many of your shots will be within bow range.
This is just our style. WKO will tailor your hunt to your liking, recommend
when you should be here for the best opportunity at success, assist in getting
you here; help you with making accommodations and guiding you in the field. We
work hard to make your trip a success.
WKO
cannot and will not guarantee you a trophy-buck. If you need a guarantee, we are
not your service. I can however say that with Western Kentucky Outdoors you will
be hunting 2,800 acres across 11 farms that trophy bucks call home.
With Western Kentucky Outdoors you will be hunting trophy bucks. Thanks
to the KDFWR, Kentucky has become one of the top producers of trophy bucks. With
a one buck limit many Kentucky bucks make it past 2 ½ years of age, allowing many
to mature and grow the head gear of a trophy buck.
Bow
& Gun Hunts: WKO caters mostly to bow hunters because that is our passion.
We have areas that are archery only, then others we can open up to those wanting
a gun or muzzleloader hunt. 80% of our clients are bow hunters. Our gun hunts
are very limited and book fast. This insures everyone in camp has a good hunt.
We strive to provide a quality hunting experience. Spring
Turkey Hunts: Our turkey hunts begin at first light, often after a gobbler
is roosted the night before. If success is not found shortly after fly down, we
will shift gears and move to known areas that the turkey will use. This may include
strut zones, dusting bowls, fields, ridge tops or bottom areas. As the day progresses
our game plan will change as the gobblers do. Early to mid afternoon can provide
some of the best turkey action there is to find. And with being able to hunt from
sunrise to sunset, often an old long beard can be fired up late in the evening
on his return to roost and an attempt to assemble hens for the following days
breeding regiment.
Trophy Deer Hunts: Our trophy buck hunts take place on several farms across
different counties totaling more than 2,500 private acres. Limiting our hunts
helps us insure low pressure. We also provide assistance on our state wildlife
management areas for those of you wanting a do-it-yourself style hunt. Many of
our state WMAs are trophy managed. We can provide topo maps, GPS coordinates,
as well as, in the field scouting prior to your arrival.
Accommodations: We provide all necessary info to the hunter for
making their own reservations. WKO provides transportation to and from hunting
grounds and take hunters into stand locations, while also providing removal of
game from the field and assistance with meat preparation. The team here
at WKO takes trips throughout the year and will make these available to you, so
if interested in hunting other states, drop us a line and we'll be sure to bring
you up to speed on what we have going on, availability and costs. Visit
