Coen Expeditions is Pope County's finest privately-owned Hunting Lodge. We're dedicated to discriminating sportsmen looking for a quality outdoor adventure. We offer turkey & deer hunting and fishing expeditions in a relaxed setting. The grounds are located 8 miles upstream from the Ohio River.

A 4000 sq. ft. lodge offers full amenities including home-cooked meals. Knowledgeable guides make for a memorable outdoor experience.

Hunting Area: Coen Expeditions has over 160 acres in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest, a sanctuary for wildlife that boasts some of the State's highest populations of whitetail deer and eastern wild turkey. The varied topography of our hunt area features heavily wooded oak/hickory hillsides, soft woods riparian habitats and grassy glades, interspersed with the latest in agricultural wildlife food plots.

We feature stands of many food crops including alfalfa, clover, biologic, buck forage oats, milo, corn, and winter wheat. Many different varieties of oaks provide abundant mast. We believe there is no finer opportunity for Trophy-Class Bucks and Gargantuan Gobblers than right here in southeastern Illinois!


The Hunt: 3 or 5 day Whitetail Deer Hunts, 5-day Eastern Wild Turkey hunts. All hunts include lodging, meals, guide service, and transportation to/from blind or stand. Game cleaning is available for an additional fee. We match guides and equipment to your specific needs and desires, to maximize your outdoor experience. We insist on the use of trained bird dogs on all upland game and migratory waterfowl hunts.


The Lodge: includes all meals, phone, internet access, washer-dryer, wood-burning fireplace, game room, satellite TV, video/DVD library, full size pool table, full-service bar and smoking lounge.

The Cabin: private Housekeeping Cabin with full facilities s includes a bathroom with shower, a full kitchen and a washer / dryer. Dishes, pots & pans, linens and towels are furnished. This unit is available for an additional fee. Children 6 & under stay free. The Cabin is non-smoking and no pets.

Bed & Breakfast: Looking for something a little more spontaneous? If we have space at the Lodge, we would enjoy having you spend the night. We can furnish a bed and a hot breakfast.
