Hunting in Saskatchewan for Whitetail Deer and Black Bear
|
Our
established hunting area is centrally located in Saskatchewan, Canada.
The southern boundary hosts the Province’s Agricultural land, stretching
north 150 square miles into Saskatchewan’s Provincial Forest. Our eastern
boundary is Prince Albert National Park which boasts more than a million
acres of breathtaking preserved wilderness. This area of Saskatchewan
is known for it’s mixed aspen, pine & spruce forest, encompassing a multitude
of lakes and meadows. Our hunting lodge is nestled in the heart of some
of the finest Whitetail Deer Hunting and Black Bear Hunting in North America.
Whitetail
Deer Hunts: Six day hunts, Nine day hunts, Twelve day hunts. **No
Hunting on Sundays in Saskatchewan. Of the deer harvested, generally three
of the fourteen will gross over 170 B&C. A very important aspect of our
business is allowing our bucks to grow old to become true trophies. We
discourage our clients from taking a deer with a score of less than 140
inches, allowing the deer to grow to their potential scores. This encourages
your expectations of a trophy 150 inches plus. You will hunt mainly from
fully enclosed ground blinds. We also offer several ladder stands and
shooting houses. We have over one hundred stands that are baited with
grain and alfalfa. Our average shot distance is in the 100 to 150 yard
range. We have approximately forty stands. You may hunt several stands
over the course of a week. Hunters should be prepared for very cold temperatures
and have the ability to sit for long days.
Black
Bear Hunts: Six day hunts. **No Hunting on Sundays in Saskatchewan.
Bear Tags are limited per year in this area. We offer the option of a
spring or a fall hunt. Success rates are high, but occasionally a hunter
may not see a bear that is up to his or her standards. Saskatchewan boasts
many color phase bears and our area is no exception. Forty to Sixty percent
of our harvest will be color phase. We have had ‘monster’ bears, weighing
over 400 pounds with skulls over 20 inches. All our bear hunting is from
tree stands over bait. Stands are accessible by ATV and are located at
least two to three miles apart. Hunting is done from 4:00pm until dark.
We
have 25 bear tags. We are currently booking for next season. Fall is the
second week in September. Sucess rates are usually 100%. All bear hunting
is from tree stands over bait. Stands are accessible by ATV and are located
at least two to three miles apart. We hunt from 4:00PM until dark, so
the rest of the day is yours to relax.
Bear Camp Accommodations: Bear camp is entirely operated
from our newly constructed lodge that borders Prince Albert National Park.
The lodge has all the amenities of home and boasts the unique atmosphere
for a hunting trip. Relax in the comfort of log furnishings handcrafted
by your host.
Whitetail Deer Hunts: We have approximately sixty (60) deer hunter
in winter on average. Our success rate is seventy percent. On the best
years, one in five hunters will harvest a buck grossing over 170". On
the slowest year, it has been one in ten. It is very important that our
bucks grow old. We encourage our clients to take bucks with a score of
at least 140 inches, allowing the deer to mature.
Whitetail Deer Camp Accommodations: Whitetail clients sleep in condominiums
located in the town site of Waskesiu serve as your home during your visit.
Private bedrooms connected by large living rooms with wood burning fireplaces
are comfortable and spacious. Two rooftop hot tubs, full maid services,
as well as elaborate in room hot breakfasts, bagged lunches, and Chef’s
Nightly Table Dish. All snacks & non-alcohol beverages are included in
your packages. No one leaves our camp hungry. Secretarial, fax and on-line
services are available at the whitetail camp.
Our Whitetail camp uses the lodge as a social gathering area. The lodge
also houses our guides and is used to host our Sunday night dinners.
