The ranch has recently been sold and we have ceased all of our
hunting operations.

We hope that you have enjoyed hunting with us and visiting our website over the years, chronicling the adventures of our clients, stories about the ranch and the area and essays on everything from Tiburcio Vasquez's hideout to rattlesnakes to witness trees and wildflowers.

Wingshooting Season: Season is October - April
California Valley Quail are native to Rock Springs Ranch and will test the most experienced wingshooter. The season to hunt them begins on the third Saturday of each October and ends the last Sunday of January.
Bobwhite, chukar and pheasant are released on the ranch and may be hunted from October through April. The best pheasant shooting is prior to March 15.

Your guide will take your party to an exclusive hunting area and provide professionally trained pointing dogs from our kennel of German Shorthaired Pointers, Brittanies, and English Setters. You are also welcome to hunt with your own bird dog.

Continental Pheasant Shoots
Continental pheasant shoots may be reserved for 12 to 24 shooters. Birds fly over the trees at 30 to 60 yards above the shooters. The morning driven-style shoot is followed by a walk-up with dogs for the ones that got away. Feasting the night before the shoot is expected. A sumptuous lunch is served afterward. Lodging included.

Wild Boar Hunting:
Season is May and June. Wild Boar have been roaming Rock Springs Ranch for the last 100 years. Many trophies are taken every year, and no trophy fees are ever added to your hunt price. You have 19,000 private acres to hunt and your guide will provide 4x4 transportation. All hunts are spot and stalk.

Blacktail Deer Hunting: Season is in August and September. Blacktail deer are native to Rock Springs Ranch. Hunter success here is exceptionally high and many of the deer taken score trophy — 38 points or more, counting height, width, and number of tines. Because of high success on quality deer, excellent service by our guides, and the comforts of the lodge, these hunts are in great demand. If you are interested in a hunt for a future year, put your name on the waiting list now. We are in the California A Zone.

Rock Springs Lodge: The Lodge is well suited to both corporate entertaining and friends and family groups and accommodates up to 24 guests. There are six guest rooms in the Main Lodge and another six beautiful new rooms in the Barn. All twelve rooms have private baths — seven rooms have fireplaces and king beds.

Dining: Our resident, professional chef serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room at the Main Lodge. Rates Lodging and dining are included in your hunt package. Your non-hunting guests pay $200 per day, which includes all meals.

Non-hunting Guests: may accompany you to the hunting fields or pursue their own activities — the lodge includes a library of books and movies, a TV room, a spa, and protected decks where you can relax and enjoy the view.
