Hunting for Black and Brown Bear with Fishing and Sightseeing
in Alaska

Welcome to the Tok River Outfitters. Providing a quality Alaska wilderness

Tok
River Outfitters operates out of Hoonah, Alaska. Hoonah is a small fishing
village located on the northern end of Chicagof Island. To get here you
will need to fly into Juneau, Alaska, then take a bush flight to Hoonah.
Alaska Airlines and Northwest Airlines both serve the Juneau area. From
Juneau, it is a 20 minute flight by bush plane to Hoonah. Tok River Outfitters
recommends Wings Of Alaska for the flight between Juneau and Hoonah. They
have the several flights daily into Hoonah. We will meet you at the Hoonah
Airport and transport you to and from the boat harbor where your Alaska
adventure begins!
All
bear hunts are conducted from our 45-foot vessel, the Icy Lady. Company
policy dictates that hunting need not be "a fine and pleasant misery,"
and our Icy Lady is fully equipped to provide a comfortable and enjoyable
trip for all participants. Tok River Outfitters' quality hunts provide
a unique opportunity to see and experience Southeast Alaska.
Brown Bear: Spring hunts are booked April 19 to May 31--- Fall
hunts are booked September 15 to October 4 .
Black Bear: Hunts are booked April 19th through May 31.
Duration
of Hunts:: All hunts are of 10 days duration unless otherwise agreed
upon by client and Tok River Outfitters. Combination Hunts Combination
hunts for Brown and Black bear can be arranged by mutual agreement between
client and Tok River Outfitters. We prefer to do this type of hunt during
our spring season.
Fishing: We offer you the exciting opportunity to fish Salmon,
Halibut, Steelhead, Cutthroat Trout, and Dolly Varden, depending on the
season. Crab, Shrimp and Clam digging (in season) are also available.
Sightseeing
and Exploring: If it is your desire to see and experience Southeast
Alaska in a close-up and personal way, this is the trip for you! Our knowledge
of the geography, flora, fauna, and fishing ensures that you will enjoy
a first class adventure. See Southeast Alaska with Tok River Outfitters
and experience great fishing, fantastic scenery, and marine and wildlife
activity unlike no other place in Alaska. Beach combing and searching
for wild plants and flowers are among the variety of things to do if you
wish to explore the surrounding area.
Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: Our records indicate that we annually
view in excess of 100 Brown Bear. Also, Bald Eagles, Sitka, Blacktail
Deer, Dall and Harbor Porpoise Orca, Grey, and Humpback Whales, Stellar
Sea Lions and Pacific Harbor Seals, Clam Digging and Crabbing.
Whalewatching:
Grey Whales, Humpback Whales, Killer Whales (Orca), Dall and Harbor Porpoise,
Harbor Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, Sea and River Otters, Bald Eagle, various
sea and shore birds, and many other varied species of wildlife in Southeast
Alaska can be seen in abundance on these voyages. Black and Brown Bear
can also be observed feeding on spawning Salmon in the creeks. We offer
these exciting trips from June 10 through September 10.

Safaris: Tok River Outfitters offers Photo Safaris for up to six passengers
for full day, half-day, or for an extended length of time. As our clients
needs and expectations vary, Photo Safaris are configured and priced accordingly.
Photo Safaris can also be combined with Fishing or Whale Watching charters.
